Vision Lessons

Welcome to Your Lessons!

• Remember, safety first! The majority of these exercises are done seated but some can be done standing. If you feel dizzy or your eyesight gets blurry at any point, stop immediately and see your healthcare provider.

• We recommend beginning with the 4 B’s and the Palming videos. These take you through simple, short techniques that you can integrate into your daily life. Once you learn them, you can do them almost anywhere and see the benefits right away.

• The rest of the lessons can be practiced in any order, and repeated as many times as you would like. Many of the techniques can be practiced anywhere, at any time of the day although we do recommend doing some self-massage and palming after any extended time in front of a screen. Start out with one or two videos per day and see which ones resonate with you. Like with any skill, improvements come from regular practice so we recommend a minimum of 5-minutes per day.

The Four B’s
Four principles for better vision that can be practiced anytime, anywhere, to relax and rejuvenate the eyes.

The First “B” ~ Breathing
By learning to breath deeply and fully we can relax and energize ourselves, while we bathe our eyes in oxygen, thus providing the best possible conditions for vision improvement.

The Second “B” ~ Blinking
Many people with vision problems do not blink enough. Blinking lubricates, relaxes, and cleanses the eyes, and helps break habits of staring and over-concentration, both of which cause visual and mental strain.

The Third “B” ~ Beaming
Beaming is simply smiling, and you’ll be amazed how important this is to vision. Smiling reduces tension in your eyes and whole body. Make sure you smile with your your eyes as well as your mouth. Smiling does wonderful things to a face.

The Fourth “B” ~ Brushing
Brushing is a descriptive term for a way of seeing and being that allows the eyes to move easily and freely, brushing the visual field with gentle softness and presence, the eyes becoming receptive instead of straining to see.

The Four B’s
Four principles for better vision that can be practiced anytime, anywhere, to relax and rejuvenate the eyes.

Chinese Eye Massage
Self acupressure massage to relax muscles around the eyes, increasing circulation for better vision.

Palming
Palming is the classic vision improvement exercise to rest and revitalize tired or strained eyes. It can be done many times during the day, and also restores peace and quiet to the mind.

Pencil Push-Ups & Near/Far Focus
Pencil Push-Ups & Near/Far Focus increase the ease with which your eyes change focus and to improve eye coordination.
They strengthen the power of accommodation, that is, the power of changing the focus of the eyes for vision at different distances, and will be particularly valuable to those who are either near-sighted or far-sighted.

Eye Stretches
These eye stretches from the yogic tradition help strengthen and release the six muscles around the eyes.

Self-Massage for Head and Neck
Releasing tension from the neck and shoulders not only improves posture but boosts vision by allowing more circulation of blood to the brain. The eyes are simply extensions of brain tissue.

Swinging and Shaking
Swinging is an practice from Dr. William Bates, a pioneer in the field of vision improvement. This exercise improves peripheral vision and re-programs the naturally smooth and flowing movements of the eyes. Shaking, from the yogic and Qigong traditions opens up energy pathways and relaxes the entire body, integrating heightened awareness and holistic consciousness.
