Pregnancy and the early postpartum period are dynamic, transformative stages of life. Yoga naturally draws perinatal students seeking low-impact movement, soothing breathwork, mindfulness, and community. This training will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to welcome pregnant and postpartum students into your regular classes — no need to panic when a pregnant student walks through the door!
In this in-depth, one-day training, you will explore:
• The anatomical changes of pregnancy and how they affect movement and practice
• Common ailments across all four trimesters and how to accommodate them
• Guidance for hands-on assists and thoughtful movement adaptations
• Short sample sequences, wih time to practice leading each other through movement patterns and pranayama
• How to work with longtime practitioners who are newly pregnant versus students coming to yoga for the first time during pregnancy
• How to communicate effectively with pregnant students and create a safe, supportive container
• When to encourage students to seek outside support
• Current information on maternal health and reproductive justice in the United States
Jill Rodgers (E-RYT 500) has been practicing asana for over 20 years and teaching since 2016. She is known for her friendly yet focused approach, stealthily guiding practitioners to attempt “the hard stuff,” and seamlessly weaving anatomical details into classes.
Jill loves working with perinatal practitioners and welcomes those with particular movement needs, such as seniors and folks with hypermobility.
