Kundalini Yoga: Breathing the Inner Body of Light
March 4th, Sunday, 1:30-4:00 pm, Samadhi Yoga, Newton, MA
Breath is life and life is breath. When breath flows, so does life.
~ Yogi Bhajan Information and Registration ….
Awaken the inner body of light, the pranamayakosha, and expand your life force with Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan. This form of yoga combines breathing exercises (pranayama) with movements, asanas, deep relaxation, chanting, and meditation to awaken a great power within you known as kundalini energy, an energy with enormous healing potential. In this workshop we will learn how to enhance, extend, and harness the power of the breath. We will draw upon our inner locks — or bandhas — to channel our heightened pranic energy. And with mudras we will explore ways to strengthen our mental focus. If your yoga so far has been mostly about stretching, this workshop will deepen your relationship with the “radiant body” which is connected with your breath. With the techniques of Kundalini Yoga, you will touch your true identity, experience physical rejuvenation, mental clarity, and a brighten your spirit. Beginners and advanced students alike will receive helpful tips for an effective home practice.
Thai Yoga Massage ~ An Afternoon of Relaxation
March 11th, Sunday, 2:00-5:00 pm, Samara Yoga, Somerville, MA
Thai Yoga Massage draws from an ancient tradition that has been used by the peoples of Thailand for healing in everyday life. Through a combination of acupressure, basic hatha yoga postures, and reflexology, the Thai Yoga therapist applies deep compression techniques, gentle stretching, and pressure point activation to the major energy pathways, or “Sen” lines, of the body. These lines are similar to the meridian lines practiced in Chinese acupuncture but more closely resemble the “nadis” of the Ayurvedic tradition of India. The Four Divine States of Mind of Buddhist teachings are focused on by the practitioner – compassion, loving kindness (Metta), joy and equanimity.
In this workshop we will explore the foundation principles and practices of this healing art form, and examine the common themes this form of bodywork shares with hatha yoga. Participants will learn a basic sequence of Thai Yoga Massage that will address all parts of the body, with the goal of balancing and moving Prana in the body/mind. Feel free to attend by yourself, or with a friend.
